A re-imagination of a classic
Located at the very top of one of Brisbane’s best entertainment precincts, Caxton Street, The Lord Alfred was established in the 19th century and was named the Prince Alfred in 1868 following the announcement of the Prince sailing to Australian soils sent by his Mother, Queen Victoria. Now in its 150th year and having played part in many Brisbanite’s youth, The Lord Alfred is being carefully restored with much consideration to its historic relevance. However, the key influence for the new owners was community, to create a place of rest, relaxation and entertainment where the locals and tourists felt at home. All eight areas of the pub are being cleverly and thoughtfully transformed to create beautiful environments modelled around classic eras including the 40’s 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. Now a relaxed, cool and breezy venue, The Lord Alfred has a warm and welcoming feel attracting social engagement.
Vibrant and contented, Lord Alfred conjures up images of warm summer days and balmy nights year round. The many outlets allow us all to find our comfy corner and return time and again to explore and wander, discovering new spaces that immediately become your new favourite. Alfred’s Bar is a place to dine amongst friends offering shared plates accompanied by delicious wines and cocktails. Those seated off the bar will enjoy modern Australian cuisine and Asian street food from menus that change seasonally. Depending on your appetite, the time of day and the day of the week, The Lord Alfred caters for one and all. In some ways, it is like opening your pantry searching for that item that perfectly meets your craving.
The Lord Alfred boasts numerous bars, unique private function spaces, a glass-encased brasserie, underground cellars and large top level verandah bar looking over Suncorp Stadium and Caxton Street. Whether it be a knock off drink after work, Saturday brunch, live music performances or booking your next private function, we are sure there is a space, a menu and a beverage that you will enjoy. Come and be part of our community.
