Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane

2014

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane is pleased to announce its dates for 2014! The Fashion Festival this year will run from Monday 25 – Friday 29 August, with its exciting line-up of local and national designers and the hottest new Spring/Summer collections inspiring audiences to See it, Love it, Own it.

The focus of the state’s sole, major annual runway programme is, as always, to drive fashion retail for Queensland. Also remaining constant is the unwavering support of principal partner, Mercedes-Benz, returning for its ninth consecutive year in 2014.

“As the inaugural and continuing naming rights partner, Mercedes-Benz is excited to again be so much a part of this significant celebration of fashion in Brisbane,” said CEO of Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific, Horst von Sanden.   “Design, innovation and the relentless search for perfection are pivotal to our brand’s 127-year existence. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane is the perfect platform to express this passion.”

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival is also delighted to welcome the support of the Queensland Government this year. The state’s backing of the Festival acknowledges the importance of the creative industries and, specifically, the local fashion industry in bolstering Queensland’s economy.

“The Queensland Government is proud to support the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane,” Premier Campbell Newman said.

“Queensland has produced some fantastic designers who have managed to create success on the national and international stage. Our state’s creative industries are worth almost $3.5 billion a year to the economy, with exports valued at $1.1 billion and employing around 74,000 Queenslanders.

“An event like this won’t just boost Queensland’s designers but it will certainly be a great drawcard for visitors from all across the world, boosting tourism in the state.”

The Fashion Festival will once again be staged in its most iconic home at the veritable heart of Brisbane, City Hall. The Festival returned to City Hall in 2013, following the heritage building’s closure for refurbishments, and the magnificent location proved the perfect setting for a showcase of Queensland and Australia’s leading fashion designers and retailers.

“We are thrilled to return to City Hall for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane,” Festival Director Lindsay Bennett said.

“It is truly one of the city’s most iconic buildings and as the epicentre of Queensland’s capital, there could be no more fitting destination for this celebration of the local fashion industry.”

The Fashion Festival is the ultimate consumer fashion event showcasing Spring/Summer collections. By promoting collections as they drop in-store, the runway shows and events create a direct connection between consumers and brands, spurring audience members to shop their favourite looks and driving retail business for local labels.

Each year the Fashion Festival grows to accommodate more designers and retailers, attract a larger audience and increase media attendance and coverage. 2013 proved to be the Festival’s most successful year yet, generating hundreds of media stories, showcasing more than 80 fashion designers and retailers and bringing in an audience of more than 7,000 style enthusiasts.

More than 300 people were employed directly for the Fashion Festival, including hair stylists, makeup artists and models, and over 250 dedicated volunteers received valuable work experience in a number of different roles.

This year the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane is determined to be bigger and brighter than ever before, strengthening the local fashion industry and providing the Sunshine State with its much-loved and much-anticipated annual celebration of style.
