Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Returns to Brisbane

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane has staged a super-successful return in 2017, with some impressive fashion facts and figures achieved over the prestigious five-day event.

The 11th Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival took place at a magnificent new venue, historic Old Government House at QUT Gardens Point Campus, with all of the runway shows staged outdoors for the first time.

The Fashion Festival was welcomed back to Brisbane with open arms, with all eight, highly-coveted runway Group Shows and events in the program selling out in record time – within 31 days of tickets being released. A total of 2,500 fashion lovers attended events across the five days of the Fashion Festival.

Principal Partner Mercedes-Benz has continued its proud and ongoing support of the Queensland fashion industry, lending invaluable sponsorship to the 11th consecutive Fashion Festival.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane has again delivered outstanding results for Brisbane’s fashion industry and creative industries. Some hot statistics include:

  • More than 60 designers were featured in the Fashion Festival – including leading Queensland fashion greats, top national brands and the brightest next generation talent – with 800 new-season outfits on show.
  • There were 120 model bookings across the Fashion Festival events this year.
  • A total of 150 volunteers dedicated their time to make the Festival possible.
  • More than 200 people were directly employed at the Fashion Festival, including hair and makeup teams, production, management and support teams.
  • Up to 40 dressers worked backstage each night to ensure a seamless transition between outfits on the runway.
  • #mbffbrisbane was tagged nearly 4,000 times on Instagram.
  • Up to 5,000 bottles of Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino were sipped throughout the week in the Fashion Bar, VIP Runway Lounge and backstage.
  • Some 19 emerging designers appeared for the very first time on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane runway, including students of QUT, past graduates of TAFE Queensland Brisbane, Brisbane School of Fashion and some very talented Kelvin Grove SC students who presented their label, Bold.
  • The runway Group Shows were live streamed for the first time. The films were professionally produced by TPD Media, sponsored by Brisbane City Council and hosted by model, TV presenter and former Miss World Australia, Courtney Thorpe.
  • Prestigious global brands including Tom Ford and Balmain (from Harrolds) and Christian Louboutin were showcased for the first time at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane, as part of the Pacific Fair Fashion Show.

This year Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane was pleased to support Bravehearts, and will donate $2,000 from ticket sales to the charity.
