Brisbane Fashion Festival 2021
Brisbane’s world-class celebration of local fashion design makes triumphant return
The 14th Brisbane Fashion FESTIVAL at new Brisbane City location King George Square was a runaway success, proudly showcasing the very best in Queensland and Australian fashion design.
As Queensland’s premier fashion event, the festival was supported by Principal Partner and naming rights sponsor, Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
The Festival – held from Monday, August 23 until Wednesday, August 25 – took a strong industry leadership stance in supporting body positivity, diversity and inclusion. This year, for the first time, the festival showcased mature models and curve models up to size 16.
More than 1,500 fashion fans flocked to our runway shows and many more tuned-in to our runway live streams at BFFTV via www.brisbanefashionfestival.com.
This year’s program featured a thrilling line-up of more than 50 designers and 440 unique, inspiring and must-have looks for the new spring/summer season.
In addition, more than 50 small businesses were supported as a direct result of the event – from staging, lighting and production, to catering, seamstresses and more.
Festival Director Lindsay Bennett said he was heartened by the public’s strong show of support – with tickets selling out in record time, in just three days.
“We’re thrilled to be able to return the much-loved Festival to Brisbane after the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to cancel the event in 2020,” said Festival Director Lindsay Bennett.
“The festival’s triumphant return saw us reinforce our primary objective – driving fashion retail for Queensland, with major economic benefits for the state. The festival directly contributes more than $2million annually to the annual Queensland economy.
“And as at Queensland’s largest and most prestigious fashion event, we offer an unrivalled platform for top fashion designers and retailers.”
Events included the Treasury Brisbane Fashion Show, presenting the biggest names and cult favourites in Australian fashion; the Next Gen Group Show, showcasing the next big names in Queensland and Australian design; and on Wednesday evening, a line-up of Queensland’s most-loved designers lit-up the runway in the Designer Group Show.
“This year, the Festival has been an outstanding celebration of the best of Spring/Summer 19 local and national fashion. We are thrilled and grateful for the public’s support and that of all our sponsors,” Mr Bennett said.
