Love is in the air at Spring Food & Wine
With Valentine’s Day just a heartbeat away, love is in the air and on our plates at Spring Food & Wine. The food emporium is saluting Saint Valentine on Thursday, 14 February with an intimate and decadent Chocolate Masterclass in their Cooking School, and a delicious four course Valentine’s Day menu in the restaurant.
Long dubbed the ‘food of love’, the aphrodisiacal properties of chocolate make this cooking class the perfect bonding experience for couples wishing to feel the romance this Valentine’s Day.
Led by an experienced chocolatier, guests will learn the art of making chocolate (and eating it), as well as the food’s fascinating history and some of its unique properties. Topics on the agenda will include interesting facts such as what makes white, milk and dark chocolate, how raw cocoa beans are converted into chocolate bars, and why home-made chocolate will always look different to that which is store-bought.
Ardent students will then discover how to temper and create delectable treats and gifts, each producing a box of handmade chocolates made with the finest quality and seasonal ingredients to take home and enjoy.
Held from 6.00 – 9.00pm, Spring’s Chocolate Masterclass is $100 per person and an opportunity to give a gift that can be shared, experienced and devoured. Nothing says “I love you” on Valentine’s Day like chocolate…
For those who would prefer a romantic dinner for two, Spring’s new Head Chef Emlyn Thorrington has designed a special four course menu in the restaurant. For $85 per person, diners will receive a glass of sparkling wine arrival, a small gift for the ladies and, of course, an indulgent meal.
Spring’s Valentine’s Day menu will start with freshly baked sourdough with Pepe sayer cultured butter, followed by marinated olives and freshly shucked oysters. An entrée of Rabbit and pork terrine, prunes and Armagnac precedes a main course of either roast Tasmanian trout, eggplant, smoked tomatoes and café de Paris butter or grilled Kilcoy sirloin steak, red wine butter and green olive verde. Finally, relish the end of the evening with a dessert of Chocolate fondant, vanilla ice cream and peanut brittle.
